Michael is an expert craftsman of public-friendly communications and public involvement strategies. He has 20 years of experience facilitating public discourse on complex issues to help communities navigate planning and capital improvement projects. Michael loves working with others who actively seek to make their part of the world a better place. Growing up amidst a sprawling suburban landscape, he drew inspiration from Ian McHarg’s “Design with Nature” and E.F. Schumacher’s “Small is Beautiful.” After escaping to the Great Northwest, he earned a B.A. in Anthropology from Whitman College and a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington.

Michael supports local and regional agencies with public outreach strategy, implementation and lots of concise, engaging communications. He uses direct language and meaningful graphics to explain transportation, urban design, planning and public policy issues for everyday readers. People appreciate Michael for his willingness to ask difficult questions, speak his mind, and cut to the chase. Michael prefers his recess time outside in fresh air.

Currently, Michael is leading the firm’s work on a series of charrettes for Sound Transit’s West Seattle and Ballard Link Extension.

I craft readable, relevant media to help people understand
and influence big plans for their community’s future.
