Casey is a policy development expert specializing in land use, environmental and emergency management planning.
She has 7+ years of experience working with local jurisdictions to analyze community planning issues and develop policy recommendations for complex topics. Casey applies research, writing and design skills to produce digestible documents that engage people in local planning. Her technical skills include GIS and InDesign.
Casey earned a B.A. in International Political Economy from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. She discovered urban planning while working in Washington D.C.’s smart growth community, which motivated Casey to earn her M.A. in City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During grad school she developed expertise in the field by interning with a local government and regional planning agency, and reviewing planning documents as a research assistant.
Casey’s recent experience includes updating comprehensive plans, coordinating public engagement efforts, conducting environmental reviews, integrating health into community planning and developing regional emergency response plans for natural disasters. She volunteers with the Young Planners Group Puget Sound, which she co-founded in 2012 with local leaders of the American Planning Association. To recharge Casey cooks, cleans house, lifts weights, practices yoga, travels and visualizes her next handmade garment.
I create clear, quality materials to support a wide range of planning projects.
