University District Urban Design EIS

We led a consultant team in developing the University District Urban Design EIS for the City of Seattle. The EIS analyzed three development scenarios with different options for focusing growth around a future light rail station. All of the scenarios included significant increases in building height and density, and we worked with team members to develop a model that helped community members and decision makers visualize these differences. We also developed the SEPA strategy, served as lead author of the Draft and Final EIS, and designed and produced the EIS documents. We focused on readability –using infographics and other measures to make the documents accessible to the lay reader. Though the Final EIS was appealed, it was upheld by the Seattle Hearing Examiner and the project was completed on time and under budget.
