Safe Streets & Safe Highways

3 Square Blocks provided strategic public engagement support as part of the consultant team for the City of Lake Forest Park’s Safe Streets project, which aimed to develop an enhanced Capital Improvements Program that identifies priority projects to make streets safer for pedestrians and cyclists and to increase safe connections to transit and amenities like schools, parks and trails. 3 Square Blocks gathered and synthesized feedback from community through a series of stakeholder interviews, planning and facilitating an open house, meeting with Block Watch leaders, and developing a project website and online comment form. 3 Square Blocks captured feedback about the types and locations of transportation safety issues and high priority improvement projects needed to improve safety in a summary of public engagement efforts. The final Safe Streets report was adopted by City Council in July of 2017.

Subsequently, 3 Square Blocks was brought on to provide strategic public engagement support for the Safe Highways project. 3 Square Blocks gathered and synthesized feedback from community members on the types and locations of projects needed to improve safety by conducting a series of stakeholder interviews, facilitating a nine-month process with a Technical Advisory Committee, developing a project website and online comment form, planning and facilitating three open houses, and preparing a summary of public comments collected during the project. The outcomes of this process are outlined in a report published in early 2018.

After the successful completion of these studies, the City hired 3 Square Blocks to guide the community through a visioning process for future development in the city’s core.
