Port of Seattle Aviation Biofuels Infrastructure Feasibility Study

3 Square Blocks provided land use analysis to support the development of recommendations for where biofuel offloading, storage and blending could occur for integration into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s pipeline and aircraft fueling system. Aviation biofuel was key to meeting the Port of Seattle’s Century Agenda goal to reduce aircraft-related emissions at the airport by 25%. The Port and partners Alaska Airlines and Boeing determined that the first step to biofuel adoption and integration was to identify the best approach to deliver blended biofuel to the airport.  We supported identification and evaluation of potential sites through analysis of transportation infrastructure, environmental and land use information, and development regulations, and through communication with property owners. We also developed maps to communicate site opportunities and constraints to decision makers.
